About Us

Hi, we’re Tara and Luke.

As poor college students, we decided the best way to put our liberal arts degrees to work was by moving to Japan after graduation. While living in Osaka for a year, we taught English as a foreign language to business people, university students, entrepreneurs, and bored housewives…on the graveyard shift. This exposure to a new culture invoked a desire to keep digging into our surroundings. More than 15 years, 25 countries, and 30 states later, and we still enjoy planning trips, exploring the world, meeting interesting people, and learning more about the places we visit. We hope our posts, reviews, and lessons give you some ideas for your own travels.
